Doctor Who Magazine App Reviews

Great Magazine, Horrible App

Doctor Who Magazine gets a 5/5, if its reviewed separately. Its easily the best "media tie-in" publication of any genre out there. The app itself, however, is horrible. Its difficult to navigate, many images dont load at proper resolution (if at all), and regularly crashes. Hopefully this will be resolved soon, but for now, its almost unusable.

Please update!

Please update the for the new screen sizes of iPhone 6 (Plus)

Good

but the layout is crappy.

Doctor who goodness

I have wanted to subscribe to dwm for years but the high shipping costs for international shipping was a huge detriment. Now I can get the magazine for a fraction of the cost and its paperless! I would like the interface to be more user friendly but other than that I love it.

A pretty nice companion

Colorfull, informative and entertaining. I just love it!

Finally!

All I can say is… Its about time! P.S. Dear Barnes & Noble… This is the final nail in the coffin of our relationship. This magazine was the only thing left that kept me coming in.

PDF formatting of Doom

I travel a lot and cant get DWM everywhere so this app is perfect for my DW fix and a bargain at $40 per year BUT like to many magazines on iTunes they are PDF clones of the physical magazines not formatted for the screens and text and images have scaling problems on the iPhone 5 and it needs to embedded videos and add interactivity eg the crossword. Will be subscribing next month post-50th anniversary issue

Cheaper then print and current

If you live in the United States a new issue can cost about $11.99 or more at a bookstore and it is always a month behind the current issue. So glad that they made a app since I love doctor who but dont live in the UK

Needs work

When I saw that Doctor Who magazine was finally available to itunes I jumped for joy. Long overdue! However, after I downloaded my first issue I was disheartened to find it a terrible copy. Most of the smaller print and the comics is completely unreadable! They need to fix and create clearer text as the comic is half the fun.

Formatting

Love having this digitally because its hard to get in the US (or expensive, or late), but theres a problem. The comics (and small print in pictures, like the original script photos in the anniversary issue) are unreadable, at least on an iPhone. The comic has always been a big part of the magazine so this app still needs work. I hope improvements can be made; maybe a higher-scan PDF of the issue is needed.

Good start... But...

So I ordered and downloaded this app and started a subscription. Got my first issue and enjoyed it. Went to get the next issue and it tells me the app needs updating, but each update try ends in cannot connect to server. So I delete and download again. Restore my purchase and now the app is up-to-date, but I cannot download any of my mags... Very sad Dr. Who fan here.

Subscription Link?

I already have a subscription with DWM. I down loaded the app because I thought it would make my subscription more mobile. Plus my current issue was sent to the wrong address, so I thought maybe I could use the app instead of buying a new copy. Instead Im asked to buy of subscribe with no option to access my current account. Is there no way to link my subscription to the app?

Subscriber

I have same issue as other reviewer. Im a monthly subscriber, but when new issues show up they are for sale, now available to me unless I buy. Please fix this!

Wonderful app!!

So much fun to have the issues handy as soon as theyre out ! Wonderful magazine!!

The Best Source for Doctor Who News and Features

I used to subscribe to the print edition of Doctor Who Magazine. But its in England and Im in the U.S., and thats expensive. This app is the perfect solution to bringing the exceptional content of this great magazine to Whovians around the world. Make sure to say OK to push notifications so you know right when the new issue is ready to download.

Latest update will not recognize my subscription

Same issues as last two reviewers. Wants to charge me for newest issue.

App Broken?

I have a month to month subscription but when I open the app it thinks I do not have a subscription. It wants me to pay for the new one?! Do I not get the special issues with my subscription it wants me to pay for the newest issue again? Fix this app!!!

Crap

All this app does for me is a pop up thats failed subscription or failed purchase so I dont know what the magazine is about, I never get a chance to even see it....

Great content, slightly wonky subscription service

Others have commented on this. Sometimes a new issue (standard, not the specials which are a separate thing) is only available as a purchase-only thing - which is not why one bothers to subscribe. I imagine itll get fixed eventually. The articles and stuff are as good as they ever were - and I was a subscriber to the print magazine in the early 80s. :)

Great magazine. Decent app.

Worth it to have digital copy of DWM esp. since its not available on the superior Zinio app. If dev would at least update so you can view purchased issues apart from all available issues that would go a long way to improving it. Also, If last years Dalek bookazine was made available Im sure Im not the only one who would buy it on sight. ***UPDATE*** Not only is the Dalek Bookazine available now (that was fast! and I bought it like I said I would) but so is the second volume, The Companions. The third will probably be available in less than 4 weeks. Two needed improvements: 1. Sort purchased issues from all available as mentioned above. 2. Give a summary description of contents of each issue. The cover alone really is not enough to do that. *** One more thing, once a filter for purchased issues is added it would also help to sort by different options including most recently read, order off purchase, and order released.
